And the winner is…

We want to extend a big, huge “Thank you very much” to Lindsay over at Me, Ed and Pea for giving us The Versatile Blogger award! We just couldn’t be more thrilled!

In place of gushing too much about ourselves (which we could definitely do), we thought we’d gush about Lindsay instead.

We love Lindsay because:

  • She has an Ed too (!)
  • They are renovating a 1956 home, just like us
  • She has cute, easy craft tutorials like this one
  • She shares our love of a vintage find (her love, our love)

See? She’s pretty awesome. And if you have room for one more Ed and one more 1956 ranch in your life (and you do), head on over to Me, Ed and Pea to find lots of other reasons to love her.

Thanks again for the award, Lindsay!

The Beginning

Why start a blog about our house? Well, because we love it! Our 1956 brick ranch had me sold from the moment I saw the back yard. I was hoping for a large lot, and at one acre, I got it. Ed’s heart soon followed, and within a matter of weeks, we had signed our life away, gotten the keys, and begun ripping up carpet. True story: we closed on our house, walked down Main Street to a local bar for champagne, and then went to our new home to pull up carpet in the dead of July, not the best month for Mississippi. It was hot, and we definitely should have cut that carpet in smaller pieces, but we were blissfully happy. Er, sweaty and happy.

Flash forward two years and not a lot has changed. Our back yard is still huge and beautiful, and our house still looks mostly the same as when we moved in. We’ve made some minor changes, but overall, she needs a tuck, a lift, and some lipo. So we’re bearing down to get it done. It won’t happen over night, but slowly we’ll have the house we dream of, and we’ll gain a ton of DIY skills along the way. And why not blog about it, right? It will consume us, and we’ll want to share all our progress with those we love.

We’ll start out integrating some past projects in with what we’re currently working on, and we’ll DIY as much as we can. Of course, we’ll pass on the nitty gritty to you in case you want to duplicate (avoid) any of our experiments (disasters). Happy to have you along for the ride!
